Monday, August 11, 2008 begins our new Calendar year for the 2008-2009 school year. Students will report to their scheduled school for a short 2 hour day. The purpose is for students to become reacquainted with the school, it's rules, code of conduct, dress codes if applicable, meet their teachers and receive their schedules for this new school year.
On Tuesday, August 12, 2008 students will be off from school. This is the day that only the faculty and staff report to school. This allows the Teachers and Staff time to organize and make any special conditions or arrangements for their students to help them achieve all of their learning goals throughout the school year.
Wednesday, August 13, 2008 the Students, Faculty and Staff will all report to School and follow it's regular 200-2009 School Calendar.
Cumberland County Schools - The TN Education Improvement Act of 1992 established accountability for public schools in our state and has required the Dpt of Education to produce a Report Card for the public to assess every year. Unbelievable school starts so early "when I was a kid" school started in mid September (about the 14-15th) and got out in mid-June...."when my kids were kids" school started about the first of September, and go out about the 1st of June. In my opinion, it's still to hot to go to school in August, lets wait for Fall.
Melissa~Hi! You might want to cross reference your dates with a calendar...today is August 8th (a Friday) and Monday is August 11th...which is when I think you meant to write that school starts. I'm sure the residents can figure it all out, but wanted you to come across as the expert that you are!
Summer is flying by this year but around here schools still start in late August and sometimes right after Labor Day.... When does the school year end? Our kids go until mid-June.
